Repair terms
& disclaimers.

These terms describe what FixLabs may do during diagnosis and repair, the risks inherent in electronics service, and each party’s responsibilities.

Version 2026-07-20.1Effective July 20, 2026Applies to mail-in and direct service

Plain-language summary

  • You must own the device or be authorized to request service.
  • Diagnosis may require opening, testing, powering or partially disassembling the device.
  • No repair beyond authorized diagnostics begins without estimate approval.
  • You are responsible for backups; electronics service and failing media can involve data loss.
  • Liquid-damaged, previously repaired and board-level devices can deteriorate or become unrepairable during reasonable service attempts.
  • Completed or declined devices must be paid for and return arrangements made promptly.
  • The complete terms below—not this summary—control the service relationship.

1. Ownership and authorization

You represent that you own the submitted device or have permission from its owner to authorize diagnosis and repair. You authorize FixLabs to possess, inspect and service the device and included accessories. You agree to provide accurate contact, ownership, lock-status and condition information. FixLabs may decline or stop service when ownership, legality, safety or requested work is uncertain.

2. Diagnostic authorization and fees

You authorize reasonable diagnostic procedures, including opening the enclosure, disconnecting components, running hardware or software tests, applying controlled power, inspecting under magnification, measuring circuits and temporarily substituting known-good parts. These procedures may reveal or aggravate latent failures in already damaged equipment.

Any diagnostic or bench fee disclosed before service is earned once diagnosis begins and is non-refundable unless FixLabs states otherwise in writing. A diagnostic fee is applied toward repair only when the estimate expressly says so. Diagnosis does not guarantee that a fault can be conclusively identified or repaired.

3. Estimates and approval

FixLabs will not perform chargeable repair work beyond authorized diagnostics without customer approval. Estimates are based on the condition and information available at the time and may change when concealed damage, additional failures, parts availability, taxes or shipping costs become known. Material increases require renewed approval. Declining an estimate may still leave diagnostic, return-shipping, storage or previously approved charges due.

4. Data, backups and privacy

You are responsible for maintaining a current backup before submitting equipment. Diagnosis and repair can cause data loss, corruption, device reset, encryption-key loss or loss of access, especially when storage, power, logic-board, liquid or operating-system faults are present. Unless a written data-recovery service is accepted, FixLabs is repairing the device—not guaranteeing its data.

FixLabs will access customer information only as reasonably necessary to test, diagnose, recover or verify the authorized service. Remove highly sensitive information when possible and provide passwords only when required. FixLabs does not guarantee preservation of settings, software, accounts or locally stored data.

5. Liquid damage, corrosion and prior repair

Liquid exposure and corrosion are progressive and unpredictable. Cleaning or component removal may expose damage that prevents the device from returning to its prior condition. Devices previously opened, modified, repaired or fitted with non-original parts may contain hidden defects. FixLabs is not responsible for pre-existing damage, latent defects, manufacturer design failures or damage that occurs despite reasonable professional care because of those conditions.

6. Microsoldering and board-level work

Board-level diagnosis may involve shield removal, soldering, heat, trace repair, component replacement, donor parts, firmware work or other invasive procedures. Severely damaged boards may fail during a reasonable repair attempt and may not be restorable to their incoming state. Microsoldering is an attempt to restore function, not a guarantee of permanent repair or recoverability.

7. Data recovery

Data recovery is best-effort and no amount or category of data is guaranteed. Failing media may deteriorate with use. FixLabs may first create a sector-level clone when practical. Destructive procedures, donor components, opening sealed drives or third-party laboratory work require separate approval. Recovered data must be delivered to suitable customer-provided or separately purchased media. Charges and success criteria will be stated in the data-recovery estimate.

8. Parts and functional limitations

Estimates should identify parts as original, aftermarket, refurbished, used or customer-supplied when material. Availability may change. Some devices display non-genuine-part notices or lose calibration, water-resistance ratings, biometrics or manufacturer features after otherwise successful independent repair. FixLabs does not represent itself as manufacturer-authorized unless expressly stated.

9. Warranty

The applicable warranty period and covered work will appear on the estimate or invoice. Unless stated otherwise, a repair warranty covers the installed part and labor for the same failure. It does not cover unrelated faults, accidental or liquid damage, misuse, new physical damage, software, malware, customer-supplied parts, consumable degradation, data loss, manufacturer action or work performed by another party after the FixLabs repair. Warranty service may require return of the device for inspection.

10. Shipping and packaging

You are responsible for secure packaging and accurate shipment information. Do not ship loose batteries, swollen batteries or hazardous devices without specific instructions. Risk during carriage is subject to the carrier’s terms and available declared-value coverage. Retain shipment receipts and photographs. FixLabs is not responsible for carrier delay, loss or damage beyond amounts actually recovered from the carrier except where applicable law requires otherwise.

11. Unclaimed devices and 30-day policy

The customer must pay undisputed authorized charges and arrange return, collection or other disposition promptly after FixLabs gives written notice that a device is completed, unrepaired, declined, cancelled or otherwise ready for return.

Thirty-day notice: If the customer does not pay applicable charges or provide workable return instructions within 30 consecutive days after written ready-for-return notice, FixLabs may classify the device as unclaimed. After reasonable attempts to contact the customer and any additional notice required by law, FixLabs may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, recycle, dispose of, salvage, sell or otherwise handle the device and securely erase accessible data. This clause does not waive notice, lien, unclaimed-property or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

FixLabs should document the initial notice, at least one follow-up attempt and a final disposition warning before taking action. Storage charges, if any, must be disclosed and applied only as allowed by law. Customer obligations already incurred are not automatically cancelled by abandonment.

12. Limitation and applicable law

To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, FixLabs is responsible only for direct loss caused by its failure to use reasonable care and is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss such as lost profits, lost use or unrecoverable data. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not permit a business to exclude. Mandatory consumer protections in the customer’s jurisdiction remain applicable.

13. Electronic acceptance and records

Checking the consent boxes and submitting a repair request constitutes an electronic signature and agreement to the version identified above. FixLabs records the repair number, consent categories, terms version and acceptance timestamp. Estimate approvals and declines are also recorded electronically. Keep copies of repair orders, estimates, invoices, shipment records and warranties.
